I'm Worried About Blood Diamonds

This is a valid concern, however I'm here to make you feel more at ease about wearing a diamond and feel good about it! We've all heard and seen horror stories about Blood/Conflict Diamonds with movies such as Blood Diamond , but what you don't hear is all the good that diamond mining brings communities and what programs and policies have been put into place in order to protect these communities.

The Kimberley Process

“Today 99% of the world's diamonds are conflict free due to the Kimberley Process"

The Kimberley Process was adopted in 2003 when Southern-African diamond-producing states met in Kimberley, South Africa, in May 2000 to discuss ways to stop the trade of "conflict diamonds" and to ensure that diamond purchases were not financing violence by rebel movements. Gem Legacy

I attended a talk by the founders of this amazing organization back in February of 2020 and absolutely fell in love with what they do and who they are. Not solely focused on diamond mining, but this organization provides so much good for mining communities.

A few things they do are: provide better education, gemological training, updated mining techniques, entrepreneurship programs, providing vocational training, installing toilets in communities, clean water, they do book drives, and so many more wonderful things for these communities.
